The apple trees, old and young, are in bloom. The fruit from the older tree was bountiful but inedible last year – though it was very popular with the crows, thrushes and blackbirds. We’ve cut it back a bit, have fed it and mulched around the base, and so will see if there’s any improvement later in the year. The two new desert apple trees are bearing lovely fresh flowers too. Between the three trees we are bound to have something to eat in the autumn.
